This year in April, Joe and I flew into Love Field, rented a car, and traveled to Benbrook to visit with my brother-in-law and his wife. The four of us had planned a photography road trip through parts of the Texas Hill Country. I was determined to get a great photograph of the bluebonnets that I love so much and we planned to be there "hopefully" during the peak of the bluebonnet bloom season. We rented a cabin near Marble Falls and made this our base camp. We traveled from Marble Falls to Fredericksburg, where we visited Wildseed Farms and enjoyed a delicious brunch at the Peach Tree Restaurant. Then we headed north on hwy 16 to Llano and took the Willow City Loop Trail - not many bluebonnets but some great photo opportunities. From Llano we headed east to Burnet, then south again on hwy 281 to return to Marble Falls. As it turned out, the the bluebonnets peaked in our road trip area this year about 2 weeks before we arrived, but we still saw abundant wildflowers of all colors everywhere along the way. We also traveled to the Meadow View Nature Area near Bluebonnet Park close to Ennis. The bluebonnets there were spectacular! I hope you enjoy these photographs!
