Joe and I just returned from a trip to Alaska. We visited our son and his family for about a week. It was winter for this trip and a bit cold and rainy. We spent a lot of time indoors but I also managed a few outings to photograph the landscapes. My first trip was to Knudson Cove Marina.
Joe and I drove to Rotary Beach (locally known as Bugge Beach). I was hoping to catch the blue hour before dawn and the golden hour after. It was windy and pretty cold that day and very overcast and cloudy. There was no golden hour this day, but here’s what I managed to get.
I woke up one morning and was delighted to discover fresh snowfall from the previous evening. I took a very early morning walk with camera in hand to catch the beauty of the fresh snow. Some of these blue hour pictures were pretty noisy with high ISOs (my camera was set on program mode since I did not have a tripod) but I loved the look of the snow on the trees and the mood. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful.
We also visited South Point Higgins Beach. It was before noon but lots of sunlight and we had so much fun looking for sea creatures on the beach and enjoying the sun.
We drove to Sunset Beach in Refuge Cove with the hope of catching a beautiful sunset. That golden hour was elusive again. But I managed to get some good photographs that I liked.
